PUF, PIR and phenolic foam

Phenolic Foam

Rigid cellular foam insulation

Phenolic foam is a rigid cellular foam insulation material whose polymer structure comes from the poly-condensation of phenol. It is a closed cell, non-flammable rigid insulation foam. In contact with fire it turns dark brown and keeps its shape, and it does not emit toxic fumes or gases.

Why specify Phenolic Foam

11 reasons it earns its place on site.

  • Exceptionally low thermal conductivity (K = 0.017 W/m·K)

  • Wide service range for different insulation applications

  • Cost effective: lower thickness can be used

  • Fire resistant, not easily ignitable

  • No smoke emission in case of fire

  • Self extinguishing properties

  • Low water vapour absorption

  • Keeps humidity under control

  • Corrosion and chemical resistant

  • Does not emit toxic gases

  • Does not nourish mould and fungal growth

Questions, answered.

The ones we get most about Phenolic Foam. Anything else? Ask on WhatsApp and an estimator will reply.

What temperature can Phenolic Foam take?

Temperature range: -196°C to 130°C, as per the datasheet. Tell us your operating temperature and we will confirm the right grade before we quote.

What sizes and grades does Phenolic Foam come in?

Thickness: Pipe: 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 mm; Dimensions: Block: 1 m L x 0.5 m W, 4' x 2'; Density: 35 to 40 kg/m³. If you need a size that is not listed, ask us and we will check what the manufacturer can make.

Where is Phenolic Foam used?

Typical uses: under deck and over deck roof insulation; pipe and duct insulation; suspended ceilings and partitions for commercial complexes, residential buildings and hospitals; vessels and pipelines in petrochemical, fertiliser, chemical and pharmaceutical plants and refineries.

Can SGPL supply and install Phenolic Foam?

Yes. We supply it on its own, or our own crews install it as part of our cold insulation, HVAC insulation and underdeck insulation work. That starts with a site visit and a written specification, and ends with a joint measurement at handover.

Is Phenolic Foam in stock, and do you send a datasheet?

We hold Phenolic Foam at our Vatva GIDC (Ahmedabad) and Morbi stockyards. You can download the datasheet on this page, and we can send the test certificate with the dispatch. Send your enquiry before 4 pm and you will usually hear back the same working day.
